The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
