Ad gave the lie to the apostles. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 He has given you flocks and sons, 133 and gardens, and springs: 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 This has been happening all along. 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
