Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the (Winds) that scatter broadcast; 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 And those who distribute (blessings) by command, 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 and the Judgement shall doubtlessly take place. 6 By the heaven containing pathways, 7 Most surely you are at variance with each other in what you say, 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 They but destroy themselves, they who are given to guessing at what they cannot ascertain 10 Who are in a gulf (of ignorance) neglectful; 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 They shall receive what their Lord will bestow on them. They have done good works in the past, 16 they would lie asleep during but a small part of the night, 17 And ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness, 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 And on the earth are signs for those who have Faith with certainty, 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 So, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, this is certainly true, as true as the fact of your speaking. 23
