The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
