The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 When Shu'eyb said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 177 I am for you a faithful Messenger, so fear you God, and obey you me. 178 So fear God and follow me. 179 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and be not of those who cause others to lose. 181 Weigh with correct scales: 182 And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption. 183 Fear Him who created you, and the generations of the ancients.' 184 They said: thou art but of the bewitched; 185 You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar. 186 Therefore cause a portion of the heaven to come down upon us, if you are one of the truthful. 187 He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do." 188 But they rejected him. Then the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom seized them, and that was the Penalty of a Great Day. 189 Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 190 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 191
