And certainly We delivered the children of Israel from the abasing chastisement, 30 from Pharaoh who was most prominent among the prodigals. 31 We knowingly exalted them (i.e., the Children of Israel) above other peoples of the world 32 And sent them tokens to bring out the best in them. 33 Indeed, these [disbelievers] are saying, 34 “There is nothing except our dying just once, and we will not be raised.” 35 "Then bring back our fore-fathers, if you speak the truth!" 36 Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We created them not save with a purpose but most of them know not. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 except those on whom Allah will have mercy. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 42
