(The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings 23 And they said: a mere human being from amongst us, and single! shall we follow him! verily then we should fall in error and madness. 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 Tomorrow they will come to know, who is the liar, the insolent one! 26 Verily We are sending the she-camel as a test for them, so watch them thou and have patience. 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 They called together their companions and agreed to slay the she-camel. 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn. 34 as a blessing from Us: this is how We reward the thankful. 35 Lot warned them of Our punishment, but they disputed the warnings -- 36 They even solicited of him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes: 'Now, taste My punishment and My warnings' 37 Indeed an abiding chastisement came upon them in the morning. 38 So have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings. 39 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 40
