The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And raised couches; 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
