Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 Will surely be gratified. 21

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
