The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
