And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
