Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 then the bearers of weight (the clouds), 2 which then smoothly speed along, 3 and the partitioners, 4 What you are promised is certainly true: 5 and surely the Doom is about to fall! 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 Most surely you are at variance with each other in what you say, 8 he is turned away from [the truth] who is destined to be so turned away. 9 Woe to the falsehood-mongers,- 10 Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless. 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire! 13 [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient." 14 As for the God-fearing, they shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They slept very little during the night 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 and in their wealth there was a rightful share for him who would ask and for the destitute. 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 And in heaven is your provision and also what you are being promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
