The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
