And when We assigned to Ibrahim the place of the House, saying: Do not associate with Me aught, and purify My House for those who make the circuit and stand to pray and bow and prostrate themselves. 26 and proclaim among men the Pilgrimage, and they shall come unto thee on foot and upon every lean beast, they shall come from every deep ravine 27 That they may witness things that are of benefit to them (i.e. reward of Hajj in the Hereafter, and also some worldly gain from trade, etc.), and mention the Name of Allah on appointed days (i.e. 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th day of Dhul-Hijjah), over the beast of cattle that He has provided for them (for sacrifice) (at the time of their slaughtering by saying: Bismillah, WAllahu-Akbar, Allahumma Minka wa Ilaik). Then eat thereof and feed therewith the poor who have a very hard time. 28 Let them then attend to their persons and complete the rites of pilgrimage, fulfil their vows and circuit round the ancient House. 29 All this [is ordained by God]; and if one houours God's sacred commandments, it will redound to his own good in his Sustainer's sight. And all [kinds of] cattle have been made lawful to you [for sacrifice and food,] save what is mentioned to you [as forbidden]. Shun, then, [all that God has forbidden and most of all,] the loathsome evil of idolatrous beliefs and practices; and shun every word that is untrue, 30 Devote yourselves to God, not associating any partners with Him. Whoever associates anything with God is like one who falls from heaven and is snatched by the birds or carried away by the wind to a distant place. 31 All that; and whosoever venerates God's waymarks, that is of the godliness of the hearts. 32 In them ye have benefits for a term appointed: in the end their place of sacrifice is near the Ancient House. 33
