The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and shade extended, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And carpets raised. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
