In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 rise (to pray) the night except a little; 2 A half of it or a little less 3 Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure, 4 Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. 8 The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, 9 And bear thou patiently what they say, and forsake them graciously. 10 Leave to Me those who belie, those who lead a life of pleasure, and bear with them yet a little while. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment - 13 On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 How, then, will you guard yourselves, if you disbelieve, on the day which shall make children grey-headed? 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 Lo! This is a Reminder. Let him who will, then, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
