The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the pages are made public 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
