Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
