The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 161 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 162 So fear God and listen to me. 163 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 164 Do you approach males among the worlds 165 leaving your wives that your Lord created for you? Nay, but you are a people of transgressors. 166 'Lot' they replied, 'if you do not desist, you shall be thrown out' 167 He said: "I am, indeed, of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your (this evil) action (of sodomy). 168 "My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do." 169 Thereupon We saved him and all his household 170 Except an old woman among those who remained behind. 171 We destroyed the others 172 And We rained on them a rain (of torment). And how evil was the rain of those who had been warned. 173 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
