1/2 Hizb 45

۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 for them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 They can only return to hell. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 Yet they hasten to follow in their footsteps. 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
