Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast]. 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
