The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
