(Muhammad), remember the morning when you left home to show the believers their position in the battle? God is All-hearing and All-knowing. 121 when two groups from among you were about to lose heart, although God was near unto them and it is in God that the believers must place their trust: 122 God had already helped you at Badr, when you were weak. Fear God, so that you may be grateful. 123 When thou saidst to the believers, 'Is it not enough for you that your Lord should reinforce you with three thousand angels sent down upon you? 124 If you remain patient and God-fearing, and the enemy should fall upon you all of a sudden, Your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand angels clearly marked!" 125 And this Allah made not except as a joyful enunciation unto you, and that thereby your hearts might be set at rest - and no succour is there but from before Allah, the Mighty, the Wise. 126 In order that He may cut off a part of unbelievers or overthrow them, and they turn back in frustration. 127 You have no concern in the affair whether He turns to them (mercifully) or chastises them, for surely they are unjust. 128 To Allah belongeth all that is in the heavens and on earth. He forgiveth whom He pleaseth and punisheth whom He pleaseth; but Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 129
