The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 And the Book written 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 by the House inhabited 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." 28
