a good many of olden times, 39 And a crowd of the later. 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And in the shades of Black Smoke: 43 Neither cool nor pleasant. 44 They had lived in luxury before this 45 and persisted in heinous sins. 46 They used to say: “What! Once we are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, shall we still be raised to a new life from the dead? 47 And our forefathers [as well]?" 48 Say: 'Those of ancient times and those of later times 49 Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day. 50 Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers, 51 you will indeed have to taste of the tree of deadly fruit, 52 "Then you will fill your bellies therewith, 53 and on top of this you will drink boiling water 54 lapping it down like thirsty camels.' 55 Such will be their welcome on Judgment Day! 56 WE who have created you, [O men:] why, then, do you not accept the truth? 57 Did you ever consider the sperm that you emit? 58 Do ye create it or are We the Creator? 59 It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten - 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 Ponder upon the soil you till, 63 Is it you who cause them to grow or do We? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment, 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 Did you cast a good look at the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it from the rainclouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Have you considered the fire which you strike? 71 Produce ye the tree thereof, or are We the Producer? 72 We have made it a reminder and an advantage for the wayfarers of the desert. 73 Therefore, O dear Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him, proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
