The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 for a great Day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 A written record. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 Not at all but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Yes indeed they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 A written record, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
God the Almighty always says the truth.
