The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
