The Amramites (Al-Imraan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Alim. Lam. Mim. 1 God: there is no god but He, the living, eternal, self-subsisting, ever sustaining. 2 He hath revealed unto thee the Book with truth confirming that which went before it; and He sent down the Taurat and Injil. 3 aforetime, as guidance to the people, and He sent down the Salvation. As for those who disbelieve in God's signs, for them awaits a terrible chastisement; God is All-mighty, Vengeful. 4 Nothing in the earth and in the heavens is hidden from Allah. 5 It is God who shapes you in the wombs as He wills. He is the only Lord, the Majestic, and All-wise. 6 It is He Who has revealed the Book to you. Some of its verses are absolutely clear and lucid, and these are the core of the Book. Others are ambiguous. Those in whose hearts there is perversity, always go about the part which is ambiguous, seeking mischief and seeking to arrive at its meaning arbitrarily, although none knows their true meaning except Allah. On the contrary, those firmly rooted in knowledge say: 'We believe in it; it is all from our Lord alone.' No one derives true admonition from anything except the men of understanding. 7 Lord, do not cause our hearts to swerve after You have guided us. Grant us Your Mercy. You are the Embracing Giver. 8 Our Lord! surely Thou art the Gatherer of men on a day about which there is no doubt; surely Allah will not fail (His) promise. 9
