The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And pollution shun. 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 So that is a tough day. 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
