Nay, by the Moon 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 A warning for people -- 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
