Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul! 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 So when the eyes will be blinded by light. 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 No indeed; not a refuge! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 Nay! man is evidence against himself, 14 And even if he presents all the excuses he has, none will be listened to. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 Indeed assembling the Qur’an and reading it are upon Us. 17 But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 No indeed; but you love the hasty world, 20 And leave (neglect) the Hereafter. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 gazing upon their Lord; 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 But, when (the soul) reaches the collar bone 26 And it is asked: "Is there any reciter of charms and amulets?" 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 And one leg will be joined with another: 29 The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)! 30
