The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. 9 Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day. 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). 16 Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. 21 Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' 22
