The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and brightening morning, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds. 29
