And We sent no Prophet unto any town (and they denied him), but We seized its people with suffering from extreme poverty (or loss in wealth) and loss of health and calamities, so that they might humiliate themselves (and repent to Allah). 94 Then changed We the evil plight for good till they grew affluent and said: Tribulation and distress did touch our fathers. Then We seized them unawares, when they perceived not. 95 And if the people of the townships had believed and kept from evil, surely We should have opened for them blessings from the sky and from the earth. But (unto every messenger) they gave the lie, and so We seized them on account of what they used to earn. 96 Are the people of the townships then secure from the coming of Our wrath upon them as a night-raid while they sleep? 97 or that which could seize them during their busy hours of the day? 98 What! do they then feel secure from Allah's plan? But none feels secure from Allah's plan except the people who shall perish. 99
