۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” – 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
