Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrael (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrahim (Abraham)? 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 and laid it before them, saying: “Will you not eat?” 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 Then his wife drew near vociferating, and smote her face, and said: an old barren woman! 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They replied: 'We are sent to a sinful nation, 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 So We brought forth such believers as were in it, 35 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – 36 We left a sign in this for those who fear the grievous punishment, 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 So We seized him and his hosts and hurled them into the sea and he was blamable. 40 And in 'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. 44 they could not stand up again, nor could they defend themselves. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
