The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 by the House inhabited 4 and the uplifted roof 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 such as play at plunging, 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
