The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 so ignore them. On the Day when the Crier will call out about a horrible event, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
