The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
