And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
