He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And he fears, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble and pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
