The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and the day in splendour 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
