۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What, are these the statues to which you cling' 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers." 54 They asked: "Hast thou come unto us [with this claim] in all earnest - or art thou one of those jesters?" 55 He said, “In fact, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them; and I am of those who testify to it.” 56 And by Allah I shall surely devise a plot against your idols after ye turned away backward. 57 And then he broke those [idols] to pieces, [all] save the biggest of them, so that they might [be able to] turn to it. 58 They asked (on return): "Who has done this to our gods? He is surely a mischief-monger." 59 Some said, "We heard a young man, called Abraham, talking about them." 60 "Bring him before the people," they said, "that they may bear witness." 61 [And when he came.] they asked: "Hast thou done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said, 'No; it was this great one of them that did it. Question them; if they are able to speak!' 63 Then they turned to one another and said, "It is you yourselves who are in the wrong," 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 He said: 'Would you then worship that, instead of Allah, which can neither help nor harm you? 66 Fie on you and on what you serve besides Allah; what! do you not then understand? 67 They said: 'Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do anything' 68 Allah said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham." 69 And they wished to cause him harm, so We made them the greatest of losers. 70 We took Abraham and Lot safely to the land in which We had sent blessings to the worlds. 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practise regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only). 73 And Lut! We vouchsafed unto him judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him out of the city which had been working foul deeds; verily they were a people evil, wicked. 74 And We brought him in unto Our mercy. Lo! he was of the righteous. 75
