(Recount to them about the time) when Your Lord called Moses: "Go to the wrong-doing people, 10 "The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?" 11 He replied, "Lord, I am afraid that they will call me a liar. 12 “I feel hesitant, and my tongue does not speak fast, therefore make Haroon also a Noble Messenger.” 13 As for me, they hold the charge of a crime against me. I fear they will put me to death." 14 Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). 15 They came to the Pharaoh and said, "We are the Messengers of the Lord of the Universe. 16 That you should send the children of Israel with us.' 17 [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said [to Musa (Moses)]: "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you did dwell many years of your life with us. 18 And yet thou didst commit that [heinous] deed of thine, and [hast thus shown that] thou art one of the ingrate!" 19 He (Moses) replied: 'Indeed, I did that when I was among those who stray. 20 "So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukman (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and appointed me as one of the Messengers. 21 "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Pharaoh said, 'And what is the Lord of all Being?' 23 Moses answered: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them, if you were only to believe." 24 The Pharaoh said to the people around him, "Did you hear that?" 25 He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients' 26 Pharaoh said, "This messenger who has been sent to you is surely possessed!" 27 He said: The Lord of the east and the west and what is between them, if you understand. 28 (The Pharaoh) said: "If you took another god apart from me I will have you incarcerated." 29 'What, even if I brought you something clear' said he (Moses). 30 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Bring it forth then, if you are of the truthful!" 31 So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew out his hand, and it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
