The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount; 1 And the Book written 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 and the roof uplifted 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
