The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place – 1 The Unbelievers, the which there is none to ward off,- 2 From Allah, the Lord of the ways of ascent. 3 by which the angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in one Day the duration of which is fifty thousand years. 4 So persevere with becoming patience. 5 behold, men look upon that [reckoning] as something far away 6 but We see it is nigh. 7 The day when the sky will become as molten copper, 8 And the mountains will be like wool, 9 And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend, 10 though they are in sight of each other. To ransom himself from the punishment of that Day, the sinner will wish that he might even ransom himself by his sons, 11 His wife and his brother, 12 his kin who sheltered him, 13 And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him. 14 Nay, verily it is a furnace 15 Dragging by the head, 16 and drag into it anyone who has turned away (from obeying God), 17 And masseth and then hoardeth. 18 ۞ Truly man was created very impatient;- 19 when misfortune touches him he starts lamenting, 20 And niggardly when good befalls him 21 except those that pray, 22 Those who are constant in their prayer 23 In whose wealth a due share is included 24 for the beggar and the outcast, 25 who confirm the Day of Reckoning 26 And those who are fearful of their Lord's doom - 27 Indeed, the punishment of their Lord is not that from which one is safe - 28 And those who guard their private parts, 29 Save with their wives and those whom their right hands possess, for thus they are not blameworthy; 30 but those who go beyond that limit are transgressors; 31 And those who respect their trusts and covenants; 32 And those who stand firm in their testimonies; 33 And those who of their prayer are observant. 34 Those shall dwell in Gardens, honoured. 35
