The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
