The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the pages are made public 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and brightening morning, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
