Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
