The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
